Get to Know M. Maxwell Hejazi, DMD
Dr. Hejazi understands that most people don’t exactly love going to the dentist. That’s why, for over 30 years, he has gone out of his way to create a calm, positive experience for every patient while helping them achieve optimum oral health. He takes the time to listen, answer questions, and provide options. Then, he uses a conservative approach to dental care, where he’s able to accomplish a lot while using a very light touch. Why Did You Decide to Become a Dentist?
Dr. Hejazi first knew he wanted to pursue dentistry as a career in high school where he enjoyed studying biology and chemistry. After school, he was an avid model maker who loved assembling and disassembling model cars, motorcycles, and airplanes. He enjoyed working with his hands and doing detail-oriented tasks, which naturally led him to a career in dentistry. Now, he gets to use all of the same skills while helping people, which is tremendously fulfilling.
Where Did You Study Dentistry?
Raised in California, Dr. Hejazi completed his undergraduate education in biology at Loma Linda University in 1987. He then pursued his dental degree at the distinguished Washington University School of Dental Medicine in St. Louis in 1991. Next, he completed a prestigious residency program in general dentistry (with an emphasis in oral medicine and pathology) in 1993 at the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF).
Today, Dr. Hejazi is a Fellow of the International Congress of Oral Implantologists in addition to being a member of the American Dental Association and Nevada Dental Association. He’s also the only Fellow of the American Academy of Oral Medicine in the state of Nevada!
Outside of the Dental Office, What Do You Like to Do?
Dr. Hejazi and his wife have two lovely daughters. Their eldest graduated from UC Santa Barbara and is studying law, while their youngest is following in her father’s footsteps, pursuing a career in dentistry. Outside of the practice, when he isn’t spending quality time with family, Dr. Hejazi is an avid hiker, traveler, reader, and automobile enthusiast.
